This is the first ground based level in the title so the main focus of my design process was to introduce some of the basic concepts of the game. Players experience melee and ranged combat and are introduced to melee and ranged enemies. The player is also introduced to the eco powers and both combat and puzzle elements to use them on. All of these concepts are then escalated in difficulty as the player progresses through the level.
I worked on the weapon systems and eco power systems in Jak and Daxter. Both of these are present in Lost Island. I give the player their first weapon upgrade here and the player is introduced to the dark eco collectable that they can use later to upgrade their abilities.
